"I make fire red and white and pink and blue and green and black and plaid, all to die and float to the sky as rainbows behind the glitter and rhinestones that lacerate our eyes and splash girls' faces upon the earth and shatter the shells of butterflies, so in the end the dust will crack its veins open and spill out clotted soil, and the earth will bleed flowers once again to be loved and picked and tossed and spoiled, all upon that perfect grave, a hole in the heart of heaven's gem, a telescope to flames." I actually started this piece in December, at the beginning of my winter break, during a surge of eagerness and restlessness and frustration with suddenly having nothing to do; then that all died down and I stopped being productive and nearly thought I might return to school with only a scrapped work-in-progress to show for it. Luckily, I whined enough about my time wasting that I finally returned to working and finished this. Hooray, self-ranting!
